Bush’s Third Term?

George Bush's Third Term; John McCain

It’s no secret that W isn’t winning any popularity contests these days. What amazes me though is the level to which Bush’s "problems" have reached into the popular conscience and inhibited the ability to critically think. Several people have said to me recently, "Anything is better than more George Bush, and John McCain would be nothing more than Bush’s third term." How have we gotten to the place where otherwise intelligent people are so turned off to the party by Bush that they are literally willing to vote for ANYTHING else so long as it is "different" or promises a "change"? The Reluctant Republicans have been disappointed and unhappy with Bush also (although probably for different reasons than most people), and McCain does come from the same party and share some of Bush’s views.

But since when does being reactionary create the best course of action? Consider the reality of the alternative. Don’t just vote for "change" without understanding what that "change" means. Things might not be great right now, but they can get a whole lot worse, and that is "change" that the Reluctant Republicans just can’t endorse.
